Final Yearbook Design

Design 2

I don't like how the background globe image turned out. I wish it was more of a complete circle. Diversity is more apparent in this cover than in my other one. I gathered the word "welcome" in many different languages and placed them in a collage. "Welcome to the world of Richland" shows how many different countries and cultures are represented at this school.

Design 3

I like the purple and green gradient I placed over the cover. I also like the simplicity of the design. The theme of diversity isn't extremely apparent. My idea was that even though we all come from different parts of the world, we share it. So the globe represents our different backgrounds and the "ours" shows how we become one through RCHS.

Yearbook Cover Version 1

My theme is "This Is It"
I replaced the "is" in "this" with a 15 as a play on lettering. I inserted the graduation silhouette as a way to symbolize our high school careers are coming to an end. I wanted to keep the cover simple so I stuck to plain black and white for the colors.

Typography

My word was line. To create my typography I used the custom shape tool to create an arrange of different types of lines. I also used the fill tool on many of my shapes to add additional lines within the shapes. There are a lot of layers in this image to get as many types of lines in the space. I chose this font for my word because it also created lines.

December Seventeenth

Pos/Neg

Positive is dark space while negative is the background area. The checkered pattern is the negative space and the star bursts are the positive space.

Line

The three types of line are actual, imaginary, and invisible. My actual lines are the lines created by the paintbrushes, my imaginary lines are the lines in between the grasses, and my invisible lines are in the sky and the ground.

Space

Space is created by the placement of objects. The higher up an object is placed, the farther away it seems. Oppositely, the lower an object on a page, the closer is seems. I created distance by placing smaller objects on top of the page. To create a short distance, I placed larger objects on the bottom of the image.

Shape

Texture is created by placing different patterns on top of each other. To create shape and texture on my image, I placed different natural patterns on top of a graffiti wall pattern. This created contrast and allowed the flower silhouettes to really pop on the page.
